SAINT DUMITRU ROMANIAN ORTHODOX MONASTERY

I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
(Revelation 3:20)

Saint Jacob House

With God’s help, we signed the contract for purchasing the house that neighbors the monastery. Some good Christians lent us the entire sum for the transaction, so that we could avoid mortgage from the bank. We kindly ask your help in paying back this loan.

Nativity of the Lord

Today, God the Father invites us to the wedding of His Son. Today, the Son of God unites Himself with human nature. It is “the newest of all new things, the only new thing under the Sun”, as Saint John of Damascus calls it, and the purpose of all Creation, as Saint Maximus the Confessor says. We hope and pray that we all may feast bountifully today and be filled with the grace of the Lord’s Nativity.

Akathist - Kursk Root Icon

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae, and at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolai (ROCOR), we will continue the beautiful New Year’s tradition of serving an Akathist Hymn before the miraculous Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. We invite you to join us in prayer on Thursday, January 1, at 6pm, at the ROCOR Cathedral of the Sign at E 93rd St & Park Ave, Manhattan, NY.

Romanian Welcome Gate

The gate is scheduled to open automatically between 6:00am and 8:00pm, every day. The automated gate operators are activated by an entry loop sensor in the asphalt.

Please drive in all the way and stop between the gate posts, underneath the roof. Wait for the gate to open.

The blessing of the iconography inside the church represents the crowning of 15 years of efforts by the faithful, during which the church was constructed, the house for the monks was purchased, and the guest house for pilgrims was remodeled. We express our thanks towards all who labored and who contributed to the edification and adornment of this settlement.
