Now, as never before
Arise, O Romanians!
With faith in your soul
And the holy weapon in hand.
Place not your hope
In the fruit of imagination,
Rather always wield in hand
The “weapon of salvation”!
Be united in one mind
Through Christian sentiments
At the bosom of “Your Mother”
Who begot you spiritually!
Seeking protection underneath
The shield of faith,
In times of war
You’ll be undefeated.
If any nation on earth
Or even “the one below”
Would rise against you,
You will defeat them.
Bend your necks humbly,
Submitting to the Lord,
And He will lift up your horn
To the “desired pasture”.
Slumber no longer
In the sleep of indifference
For the “dawn of salvation”
Illumines the Carpathians.
In a spirit of pure love
Living together as brothers,
May we taint neither our dignity
Nor our holy tongue!
Awaking our sensibility
From within a Christian soul
Let’s adorn the Romanian flag
With the Sign of the Cross!
On our soul’s throne
May there always reign
The most venerable icon
Of the King of Glory!
If we protect our unity
And our “Ancestral Creed”,
We’ll be full of glory
Both on earth and in heaven!
Then the ancestral virtues
Praised for centuries
Will start growing again
In our precious land.
From the pit of destruction
Dug by the tyrant,
“Trajan’s sapling”
Will rise again in glory.
So, today, as never before,
May we prove to be “Christians”
Preserving our faith
Undefiled, among strangers.
